At Well & Being for Women we use SkinPen, which is considered the gold standard in microneedling due to its speed and how well, precise, and smooth the device and needle cartridges are manufactured. Microneedling, a type of collagen induction therapy, is a cosmetic skin needling procedure that promotes and accelerates natural skin regeneration and rejuvenation. SkinPen creates micro-channels (microscopic holes) at a rate of 1600 per second. These small wounds (micro-injuries) stimulate skin, kicking its healing process into high gear. Best of all, SkinPen doesn’t rely on heat or chemicals, so the results are natural and safe for all skin tones and types. After the microneedling treatment, to optimize skin rejuvenation, we then apply LED light therapy to support this process by stimulating collagen production and improving overall skin health.
SkinPen microneedling is a minimally invasive procedure that uses fine needles to create micro-injuries in the skin, stimulating the body’s natural healing response. This process is a skin rejuvenation treatment promoting collagen and elastin production, essential proteins for maintaining skin elasticity and firmness. It helps improve the overall texture and tone of the skin. It can reduce the appearance of enlarged pores, refine rough skin, and even out pigmentation caused by age spots or sun damage.
Procedure steps:
Full results may not be evident for several weeks. Clients will see visible improvements in texture, tone, and overall appearance with fresher, smoother and more even-looking skin. As a result, the skin appears plumper and more youthful. Depending on skin condition, multiple sessions, usually spaced several weeks apart, may be recommended to achieve optimal results.
After microneedling, the skin undergoes a rejuvenation process, and LED light therapy can support this process by stimulating collagen production and improving overall skin health.
Timing is crucial when using LED light therapy following a microneedling treatment. At Well & Being for Women, immediately following a microneedling procedure, our nurse practitioner will determine when the best time to apply LED light therapy will be most suitable. Although the combination can provide enhanced results, it is vital to understand when to introduce light therapy into your regimen to optimize its benefits and protect a client's skin. LED light therapy is a gentle and safe daily procedure. However, like with any skincare treatment, monitoring a client's specific skin response and needs are essential.
Depending on a client's skin response, LED light therapy, particularly red infrared wavelengths, will be applied immediately following a microneedling session. This can help enhance the results of microneedling by promoting healing and reducing inflammation. The immediate application can help soothe the skin inflammation, decrease redness, and accelerate healing.
The alternative method to using an LED light therapy is incorporating the application within 24-72 hours post-treatment. During this period, the skin remains highly absorbent, enabling the light to penetrate deeper, enhancing its therapeutic effects.
